Description

School of Rock Littleton provides both in-person and online music lessons for students of all ages. Our programs, camps and workshops for toddlers, kids, teens and adults make learning to play music fun and create great communities of musicians. School of Rock is the leader in performance-based music education. We combine one-on-one drum, bass, keyboard, vocal, and guitar lessons with group practices. Students learn to play music from day one and put on live performances at local venues. Our experienced instructors are local musicians themselves who combine the performance-based School of Rock Method and programs with individual music lessons to get results for your student.

  • Jason Barteck

    General Manager

    Jason is a multi-instrumentalist, vocalist, songwriter, and recording engineer from Baltimore, MD. He has been with School of Rock since 2010 and is a seasoned program director. His inspiration comes from jazz and folk music as well as the full spectrum of Rock and Roll! Jason is a live and studio session musician and has shared the stage with artists such as AWOLNATION, Rusted Root, Shakey Graves, Train, Andy Grammar, Andy Narell, Frank Vignola, and more.

  • Shayne MacLaughlin

    Music Director

    Shayne's vast experience playing in bands and teaching helps him to oversee our various programs at School of Rock. He teaches guitar, drums, keys, and bass as well as directs our Performance Program and Rock 101 classes. You can find him playing guitar around town in the band, Larimer Lights.

  • Malena Nystuen

    Studio Coordinator

    Malena has just received her BA in Recording Arts at the University of Colorado Denver. In addition to playing guitar in her free time, she is a bassist and singer in the Denver-based bands Kinesics and Meliora. She has also toured nationally with the Nashville group Father Mountain and holds a passion for everything from recording and producing music (most recently for Denver indie band Moses) to writing music of her own. Music has changed her life in so many amazing ways and she wants to do whatever she can to help students experience the value of playing and performing!

  • Arielle Swallow

    Little Wing Director

    Arielle fearlessly leads our early education programs at School of Rock Littleton, teaching music to students as young as three years old! She currently teaches our Little Wing classes (Ages 3 - 5) as well as our Rock Rookies classes (ages 6 - 7).

  • Seger Marion

    Instructor / Director

    Seger Marion is multi-instrumentalist residing in the Denver area. While drums are his first love, songwriting quickly became his second. To support that endeavor, guitar, bass, keys, and naturally, vocals became a part of his active repertoire. He pursued a degree in Recording Arts and received his Bachelor’s from the University of Colorado Denver. Thanks to his time at the university level, Seger has built a solid background of music theory, performance, and diversity which he brings to his teaching platform. This, combined with the cultural experience of having lived in places such as Germany and Australia, gives him a unique perspective on the role music plays in everyday life. Seger currently fronts a band called Larimer Lights with fellow School of Rock staff, Shayne MacLaughlin and Jason Barteck.

  • Alex Meier

    Instructor / Director

    Alex comes from an artistic family of singers, guitar players, dancers, painters and above all, teachers. He was enrolled at an early age in art, drama, and music classes - some even taught by his relatives. Alex found his true calling in music when he picked up his dad's guitar at the of age 8. From there on out, he's embarked on a life in music. Alex founded his first band at the age of 13 with his little brother and has played in and out of bands since. In high school, he participated in music, drama and choir programs while holding a job at the local music store where he learned to be a competent technician for a wide variety of instruments. This is when he began giving lessons for guitar and vocals. Since then, Alex has played in several bands touring the country, made it on the radio and played with prominent national acts. Once moving to Denver, he found a new family of musicians at School of Rock that also love to share the joy of music through teaching.

  • Jennifer Norville

    Instructor / Director

    Jennifer's musical interests began in elementary school with piano and flute. In middle school she added guitar. Then, in high school she joined the drum line in the pit percussion and started learning bassoon for concert band. Jennifer attended Wichita State University and earned a Bachelor of Music Education:Instrumental with an emphasis on jazz guitar. After graduating from college she moved to the Phoenix area and taught a range of classes including: K-5th general music, 6th-8th keyboards, guitar, band, and 4th-5th band and orchestra. Now that Jennifer resides in Littleton she enjoys working with future rockers at School of Rock and with band, orchestra, mariachi, drumline, & guitar students at a nearby high school.

  • Garrett McGaugh

    Director / Drum Instructor

    A graduate of the University of Arizona, Garrett brings a unique understanding of music history, literature, and its cultural relationships to bear in both his performance and educational roles. His unique humor, intensity and passion for music and the arts, is easily complemented by his deep groove, finesse and overall sensitivity on the instrument. Garrett can be found performing with the Denver Philharmonic Orchestra; jazz, metal, and funk bands; recording; composing/arranging for film and TV; conducting clinics; and working with middle school, high school and collegiate musicians throughout Denver, Boulder and Colorado Springs.

  • Karen Cuda

    Show Director

    Karen Cuda has cut her teeth in many Denver bands over the years, and most notably spent 2004-2013 rockin’ the low end with her surf green Fender bass with Grammy nominated rock band, Nashville Pussy, as they toured the globe. From multiple tours of Europe, Australia, South America, Canada, and the Far East, and back to the USA, Karen has been playing her bass with a big attitude and a ferocious confidence for nearly hundreds of thousands of fans. As a former member of Nashville Pussy, her thundering bass lines appeared on three albums, “Get Some” (2005), “From Hell to Texas” (2009), and 2012's re-release of "From Hell To Texas", which included many additional live tracks. She also appeared on the live DVD, “Live in Hollywood” (2008). Prior to her role in Nashville Pussy, she was a founding member of the now retired Denver, CO power pop trio Hemi Cuda. She appeared as bassist, co-writer, and co-vocalist on both albums by the band, “Classics for Lovers” (2004) and “Thick Riffs & Tasty Licks” (2006), on which she also co-produced. In the summer of 2009, Karen participated as the bass instructor and “band coach” with Girls Rock Denver, a non-profit program which teaches music and self-empowerment to Denver area girls at an annual summer music camp. Karen returned to Girls Rock Denver in 2010, even expanding on her duties as gear and showcase venue coordinator, in addition to recruiting some instructors. Karen began working with School Of Rock Denver and School Of Rock Littleton in the summer of 2012 by hosting "Karen Cuda's Punk Parties", two "boot camp" productions which she co-directed and coached. She continues her work with School Of Rock as a part time performance program co-director. Karen also continues to be a frequent accompanying bass player with virtuoso guitarist/songwriter, Eric McFadden, and is currently working on her own musical projects in Denver.   • Mike Rosenberg

    Assistant Director / Drum Instructor

    Mike is a drummer and is working on his degree in Film and Television from the University of Colorado Denver. Mike has been a musician since the age of 9 and has a strong Proggressive-Rock background, along with a mix of jazz, funk, blues, folk, and heavy metal. He was a student at the School of Rock since he was 11 and has now leveled up! He has had experience on tour with his own band and the School of Rock All Stars, playing stages like Lollapalooza and Red Rocks. He is very excited to continue being a part of the School of Rock family and looks forward to working with and inspiring new students.

  • Izzy Veloso

    Voice Instructor / Show Director

    Izzy began teaching at School of Rock shortly after her graduation from the program. She represented Littleton during her time as a School of Rock AllStar, touring around the country with an elite group of teen musicians. She is eager to share her talents with students of all ages and ability levels. Izzy is heavily involved in our Rock 101 program and Performance Program in addition to teaching private voice lessons.

  • Seth Beamer

    Instructor / Director

    Seth Beamer is a Denver based musician. He has experience in various genres and has played with a wide range of groups from blues to rock to jazz. With degrees in both Jazz Performance and Audio Production from the University of Colorado Denver, Seth now continues to pursue a diverse musical career in the city while giving lessons to a wide group or private students. Having a wide background of teaching all ages, and heaving experience with young children, Seth understands that every musician is in a different place. Whether you’re just starting out or ready to get back into playing again, he is eager to work together and establish what the best direction is for you!   • Austin Young

    Guitar & Voice Instructor

    Austin Young leads a successful blues-rock trio in Colorado (Austin Young Band). He teaches lessons on guitar and voice to the students at Littleton School of Rock.

  • Emily Montelongo

    Instructor / Director

    Emily is a multi-instrumentalist who is active in Denver's DIY and punk scene. She teaches drums, keys, and guitar at School of Rock Littleton and is also involved in directing our group programs.

  • Claire Jensen

    Instructor

    Claire Jensen has a background in education and also performs in the Greeley, CO based rock band "Silver & Gold". She teaches both piano and voice at School of Rock Littleton.

  • Alex Goldberg

    Bass Instructor

    Alex Goldberg is an in-demand session player in Colorado. He performs with the Austin Young Band as well as several other projects. You can find him performing any given weekend around town or touring the country!

  • Payden Widner

    Guitar Instructor

    Payden teaches guitar to students of all ages and ability levels. He performs in the indie-folk group, Avenhart as well as in the live band of the Denver pop artist, Chloe Tang. He is also skilled in the area of acoustic fingerstyle guitar, having studied the likes of Tommy Emmanuel & Chet Atkins.
